N.O.W. Norway Open Water
Led by myself, science teacher Per Olav Verås, and my students in Farsund, Norway.
N.O.W. seeks to engage other students and teachers in Norway in the development of low cost student built sensors whose goal is to monitor water quality in Norway's rivers and lakes.
The project is Arduino based and appropriate for students ages 15 to 20 years. We are using PUBLIC LABS as a platform for sharing our research and invite others to participate in a long term project.
We will be using open source tools such as FRITZING and AUTODESK for breadboarding our sensor circuits. We have a goal of 3D printing our components and will be sharing our design on our Public Lab website.
The primary goal is to create sensors for determining water quality. The secondary goal is to motivate other students and teachers to increase their activity in promoting STEM inside and outside the classroom.
