Child Labour in the Past: writing in FYR

Pupils improve different basic skills: reading, writing, speaking and IT literacy.

Pupils collect information on child labour in the past and then they step into the shoes of a child from Victorian Britain and write a letter to a friend.

Get started: write for 3 min. What do I know about child labour in the past?

Step 1: read and collect information from an online source (The Mill Children)

Step 2: listen to a BBC source online, collect information, take notes and share those in group or pairs.

Step 3: write a letter to your friend. Change your identity: you are a child from Victorian Britain. The set of questions might be helpful to complete the task successfully. Pupils can use their notes, imagination and fantasy.

Pupils are assigned a mark for the letter.
